As an illustration, students have to attend for at least 7 weeks of their course before they can be granted a holiday of two weeks maximum. They can take another holiday of two weeks maximum when they have attended at least 13 weeks of their course. The remaining 4 weeks of their holidays can only be used after they have completed the entire 25-week course. Continued and persistent absence is detrimental to the integrity of the course and the intended learning outcomes.  The required minimum attendance rate is 85%, moreover, Non-EEA academic year students have a statutory requirement to attend at least 85% of their course and the school is obliged to inform INIS regarding students’ attendance on a regular basis. The school reserves the right to take a disciplinary action against a student whose attendance falls below 85%, which may result in expulsion.

6.7 Students failing to meet the attendance requirement are notified immediately of the situation first by oral warning. If this issue is not addressed by the student in the following two weeks, the school will issue the first written warning informing the student of the actions they should take. If the student’s attendance does not improve in the following two weeks, the school will issue the final warning informing the student of possible expulsion should their attendance not reach the minimum requirement of 85% within the following two week period. If the student’s attendance does not reach the agreed level of attendance within two weeks from the issuance of the final written warning, the student may be expelled. The Director of Studies will issue a letter of expulsion. Once the student receives the letter of expulsion they have a right to appeal the decision in writing to the Director of Studies within 5 working days from the date they received the letter. The appeal will be processed by a panel consisting of the Director of Studies, the Financial Director, one teacher appointed by the Director of Studies and one teacher chosen by the student within the following 5 working days and the student will receive a final decision in writing. The school, under its obligation to the INIS will inform INIS of the expulsion or any other outcome of the appeal process. All correspondence relating to the disciplinary action and expulsion process will be kept on file.  Expelled students are not permitted to apply for readmission to the school and they will not receive any refund of unused fees.
